GROSS FOOD FACT
A delicacy that is really tasty to many people across the nation is Frog Legs. Now, don’t I bet you want to hop out the door on that one…………..but really, Frog Legs have been cooked and eaten at restaurants and homes for generations, and are known to not only taste similar to chicken, but are also irresistibly delicious.
You can purchase frog legs at fish markets and in the freezer section of some grocery stores. Dan Fowler has been “gigging” frogs since he was 12 years old, and now has 33 years of experience. He says, “all you need is a fork shaped spear on a long 15 foot pole, a powerful flashlight, a couple of friends, and a sense of adventure”.“ You wait until it is dark, walk around a pond or lake, and when you point the flashlight into the frog’s eyes, they hold still long enough to stick them”.
The traditional way of cooking Frog Legs is to dip them in batter and fry them until they are golden brown. But in cook books and on internet recipe sites you will find such simple recipes as Grilled Frog Legs, and Stir-fried Garlic Frog Legs, to the more sophisticated recipes like Sautéed Frog Legs with Tomato Garlic Butter and Frog Legs with Creamy Onion-Mushroom Gravy. NOW THAT IS REALLY GROSS!
